SCEC Workshop: Coordinating Post-Earthquake Field Data Collection (January 12 & 14, 2022)

Online

A SCEC workshop will be held online January 2022 focused on creating a framework to standardize post-earthquake response in four areas: coordination, communication, data collection methodology and data types. This framework will include curation and dissemination of ground deformation observations in ways that improve their usability for earthquake geology, simulations and other modeling activities, as well as Probabilistic Fault Displacement Hazard Analyses (PFDHA). Anyone currently working on, or interested in, post-earthquake studies is encouraged to participate, especially researchers and young […]

IGCP 725: Virtual Workshop on Radiocarbon Dating – From Cores to Code

Online

This workshop is free and will be fully virtual. Following the theme of IGCP 725, it will cover the basics “from cores to code”. Topics will include: field sampling strategies across environments and timescales of interest; sample handling and preparation; a behind-the-scenes look at 14C lab analyses, including cutting-edge radiocarbon tools; processing and calibration of 14C results; and age-depth modeling. Details and the full list of proposed topics can be found in the attached PDF flyer and on the website. Please register by January 7 at this […]

35th Himalaya-Karakorum-Tibet (HKT) Workshop

Pokhara , Nepal

The Himalaya-Karakorum-Tibet (HKT) workshop has been organized annually since 1985. Nepal Geological Society has organized the 9th and 27th HKT workshops, respectively, in 1994 and 2012, in Nepal. Likewise, accepting the approval of the attendees at the 33rd HKT that occurred in Lausanne, Switzerland in 2018, the Organizing and Management Committee of the 35th HKT workshop of the Nepal Geological Society is happy to announce the 35th Himalaya-Karakorum-Tibet workshop in Pokhara, Nepal from 11 to 13 March 2022. 2022 Structural Geology and Tectonics Forum

Bowdoin College Brunswick, ME, United States

SGTF is an interactive venue for discussing important frontiers, new ideas, and current research in structural geology and tectonics. The Forum also provides opportunities to discuss effective and inclusive teaching of structural geology and tectonics, including integrating research with teaching. The three-day Forum includes "one-at-a-time" technical sessions and an all-conference field trip to see rocks exposed along the Maine coast and discuss inclusive, equitable, and accessible teaching practices. Optional workshops and field trips are scheduled before and after the Forum. […]

Sea Level 2022

Marina Bay Sands, Singapore Marina Bay Sands, Singapore, Singapore

Five years after the WCRP sea level conference took place in New York in 2017, and one year after the last AR6 report provided a comprehensive summary of the state of climate related large scale sea level research, the conference will address the existing challenges in describing and understanding regional sea level changes. The conference will focus strongly on the link from large-scale sea level information to coastal areas and societal implications of those changes to coastal communities. This will […]
